Remote Interpretation 

Best Practices

Technical:

​​

  • An RSI Platform – Zoom, Kudo, Interprefy, Voice Boxer, Webex, etc.

​

  • Ethernet connection – Minimum 10 Mbps download + 5 Mbps upload capacity, Ping below 50 ms

​

  • Microphone-integrated USB headset or earphones – highly necessary

​

  • Camera operational and on at all times

​

  • Back-up plan (computer, internet, headset)

​

  • Instruction materials available in electronic form and uploaded in advance

​

  • Computers and headsets for participants

​

Human:

 

  • Experienced simultaneous interpreters

​

  • RSI platform Moderator/Technician (communication with interpreters- cameras on)

​

  • Designers/Instructors – Adapted teaching approach for on-line instruction (shorter sessions – SPEED/PACE – amount of text in slides)

​

  • Pre-training rehearsal

​

  • Trainees need quick overview on how to use the platform (cheat sheet with the course material)
